Art & Culture
Many traces bear witness to Jena's eventful history. The Hanfried Monument in the middle of the market square is a reminder of the Reformation. From here you can explore the city on foot. At the Jena Tourist Information Office, right next door in the old Stadtspeicher, you can get an overview of the cultural highlights. You can find out what the City of Light has to offer in terms of art and culture on the Visit Jena website.
Once you've tired yourself out, it's time to relax! How about a slice of cake at Caféhaus Gräfe or a beer with a river view at Strand 22? Afterwards you'll have enough energy for the Kulturarena, a concert by the Jena Philharmonic Orchestra or an evening of jazz at the Volksbad. There's a lot going on in Jena - take your pick!

Goethe and Schiller formed a friendship in Jena. The Schiller House, the Botanical Garden and the Mineralogical Collection bear witness to the work of these two great personalities. Jena's industrial boom began at the end of the 19th century. The "dream team" of Zeiss, Abbe and Schott helped the city achieve world fame with spectacular developments. The magnificent industrial architecture from the following years still characterizes the image today.
